LearnOutLoud.com Review
The Moment in Time is an informative one-hour documentary on the Manhattan Project featuring interviews with many physicists who participated in the project. The documentary features straightforward narration with accompanying photos and videos detailing the development of the atomic bomb in the last years of World War II. Under the leadership of J. Robert Oppenheimer at the Los Alamos Laboratory in New Mexico, the first atomic bomb was developed and detonated at the Trinity site on July 16, 1945. This documentary touches on some of the physics behind the bomb, along with visual aids. It covers the tense build-up to the bomb's detonation with reactions from physicists who were there. In the final minutes of the documentary, it covers the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August of 1945. This documentary is like one you'd watch in a museum and doesn't provide much subjective commentary on the reasons and motives behind the actions that were taken. For someone looking to learn more about the Manhattan Project, it is an information-packed hour about this hugely significant event in World history.
