LearnOutLoud.com Review
Listen to one of Dr. King's most important speeches, which he delivered on December 11, 1964, as part of receiving the 1964 Nobel Peace Prize. In the speech, King starts out emphasizing that humanity's scientific and technological achievements have outpaced its moral and spiritual progression. King then lays out three major evils in the world: racial injustice, poverty, and war. He addresses racial injustice with the importance of nonviolence when it comes to any freedom movements around the world. He argues that with mankind's immense wealth, an all-out war should be waged on global poverty. And finally, he addresses war in the nuclear era and how it must be eradicated in order for humanity to survive. He champions the power of love as a soul force that can help in our quest for peace and justice globally. It's a moving and well-structured speech that helped pave the way for King's activism in the remainder of his life.
