The Late Great Planet Earth (1978) Documentary by Hal Lindsey on Free Online Video

Based on his 1970 bestselling book The Late Great Planet Earth, this 1978 documentary lays out Hal Lindsey's dark predictions for the near future. Through his book, Lindsey helped to further popularize the ideas of premillennial dispensationalism amongst Evangelical Christians in America. Full of Cold War fear-mongering, the documentary puts forth many predictions that haven't come to pass such as a nuclear holocaust with Russia in the 1980s, the depletion of the ozone layer, overpopulation leading to mass death, and numerous other imminent catastrophes that circulated in the 1970s. It also alludes to many political figures who may become the Antichrist, most of which are now dead. It's interesting to watch the documentary in retrospect in relation to the theological system of dispensationalism which keeps evolving and adapting to history as it proceeds. Orson Welles narrates the documentary which provides it with extra dramatic weight.
