Mentality (2021) Documentary on Free Online Video

This documentary follows people suffering from various mental illnesses over the course of a number of years in the Great Lakes area of the United States. While the film points out the progress that has been made since the days of insane asylums, it also acknowledges the many shortcomings in our current mental healthcare system, from high healthcare costs to the jailing of the mentally ill and the prevalence of homelessness among the mentally ill. Most of the documentary casts an empathetic eye on the people who are suffering from mentally illness and tells their stories, along with many of their family members. The film takes a turn in 2020 when the global pandemic hit and follows its subjects through that ordeal. Ultimately the message it wants to deliver is that if you're suffering from any mental illness seek treatment.
