C.S. Lewis Audio & Video

Biography
C.S. Lewis was an Irish author and scholar, known for his non-fiction work on Christianity, and famously for his fantasy series "The Chronicles of Narnia". Born in Belfast, Lewis was an avid reader as a child, and a lover of nature and animals. He went on to serve in World War I, and was a fellow at Oxford for over thirty years.

His interests were primarily in medieval literature as a professional scholar, and this work dovetailed beautifully into his life as a writer. Having abandoned his Christian faith when he was very young, he returned to it as a man. Indeed, his religious beliefs would form the core of his mature writing: he battled fiercely on behalf of his beliefs in books like "Mere Christianity", and faith was used allegorically in Narnia. Currently his work still sells briskly, and the "Chronicles of Narnia" finds huge popularity with each new generation.

We Recommend
To begin with, we suggest "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe"; the first entry written in the Chronicles of Narnia. This beloved children's classic introduces listeners to Narnia, "the land beyond the wardrobe door, a secret place frozen in eternal winter ... a magical country waiting to be set free". Next up is "Mere Christianity", a book that is a classic apologetic for Christianity. Here Lewis tries to break his beliefs down to their fundamental truths, and this book stands as one of the primary philosophical texts on Christianity. Lastly we point you to "The Screwtape Letters" which showcases a dialogue between two demons about how best to win the soul of man. This is a humorous and thought provoking tale on human sin, the pitfalls of spiritual laziness, and the abrupt reality of evil.

Whether you are looking for beautiful tales from far off lands, want to learn more about Christianity, or want to strengthen your faith, there is perhaps no one more suited for the job than C.S. Lewis. LearnOutLoud.com is excited to present a complete resource of his work on audio.
