H. Nininger Audio

Dr. Harvey Harlow Nininger is considered the "Father of modern Meteoritics", and the founder of the American Meteorite Museum in Sedona, Arizona. The museum's overflowing collection was later divided in the 1960's between the British Museum  and the Arizona State University. Dr. Nininger is credited with personally recovering a substantial portion of all the meteorites available to scientists today, as well as bringing to attention the fact that meteorites are present in great enough concentrations on Earth's surface to actually warrant looking for. In 1965 he and his wife endowed the Nininger Meteorite Award, awarded annually for outstanding student achievement in the "Science of Meteoritics". A number of prominent planetary scientists and meteoriticists have won this award.
