The 800-CEO-READ podcast is a podcast that has a lot of promise but doesn't always consistently deliver. Part of it is that the format varies from show to show. Sometimes it's an audio excerpt of a business book. I tend to like these as it's a great way to preview an audio book you may be interested in listening to.
Other times the podcast consists of Todd interviewing various business authors. These can be good although they tend to go on a little longer than necessary. A shorter format would probably work better here. But kudos to Todd for getting some fairly big names.
But to highlight the inconsistency, the most recent episode I listen to was "Remixing the Hymns" which was a little bizarre. It consisted of Ben and Jackie from the Church of the Customer Mind podcast doing their best "Dawn and Drew" impersonation "remixed" with some music. It didn't really work for me.
Anyway, this is certainly a worthwhile podcast, especially if you're a businessperson. But do be prepared for it to be hit or miss.

The CEO-Read Podcast surprised me. I was not sure about what to expect with this podcast; I figured it would be full of self-promoting authors pushing their books and droning through lengthy passages.
What it turned out to be was quite different, and quite enjoyable. In the podcasts I reviewed, the host interviewed industry leaders who talked about their books and their expertise in a way that ended up having real and surprising value to the listener.
They were able to bring in current events, industry news, and practical business and management tips in a way that was easy to listen and very insightful. I was impressed.
With a title like CEO-Reads, the podcast doesn't go out of its way to sell itself as a highly valuable tool, but rather its humble title belies the real value it offers.
There were only 2 criticisms I have: First, the sound varied greatly between the too-loud host and the too-quiet guests. Second, the podcast entitled "remixing the hymns" was pretty annoying and difficult to listen to and felt less professional and formal and useful than the other podcasts from CEO-Read.
Despite those annoyances, this podcast received the coveted 5 stars for being immediately applicable, having guests you want to listen to, and for providing intelligent industry coverage. I was drawn to each podcast, disappointed when it stopped, and didn't notice how much time went by.
