I am a "western trained' physcian and also a yogi. I don not feel there is any contridiction in the practice of Hatha yogi and western medicine. Especially if one considers the improvements it brings to many people's lives through aerobic exercise, increased flexibility, and stress reduction. Like any sport it poses risks (many of which are described in the text at the start of the podcast); thus, one should know their limits. Yoga encourages practictioners to listen to thier body. A sensible yogi (or any sports participant) should always be aware of their limits
I suggest people check out the itunes reviews for this podcasts and also judge for yourself. I've enjoyed some of the episodes I've downloaded in the past mainly for their length. Note that some of the routines are advanced and should be avoided by beginners - I can only find these ratings consistently on the web site (they are not always in the feed description.
