The Coming Video Learning Revolution by Jon Bischke

It had been rumored for months now but even as this Apple's "...One more thing" event approached this week most people still weren't sure. Would Apple finally launch the long-awaited Video iPod? Steve Jobs, being the consummate marketer that he is, managed to keep this thing under wraps until the very last minute. But now, after much speculation and waiting, the Video iPod has finally arrived.

I haven't seen it in person yet (the Apple Store in my area doesn't have them in yet) but from the looks of things this device will revolutionize the way people consume media. Earlier in the week I blogged about the fact that one of the things that was holding video learning back was the lack of portability, something that has been referred to as "space shifting." Unlike audio which you can take with you pretty much anywhere these days, video was much more limiting.

This all changes with the video iPod. It won't be too much longer until you'll be able to take a video course from an awesome company like the Teaching Company with you everywhere you go. You can watch a lecture on the train or bus on the way in to work. Then maybe you have a half hour to kill at work before you pick your kids up from practice. You'll be able to watch the course there. Finally when you get home at the end of the day you'll be able to hook up your video player to your TV and watch the remaining portion on the big screen.

It's pretty revolutionary when you think about it huh? We're excited to be a resource for you to find educational content for the portable video player you'll be buying next week or two years from now. We're also excited to be able to produce some video learning material in the coming months. If you have any suggestions for video learning content that you think would be perfect for the Video iPod, please send us an e-mail at suggesti ons@learnoutloud.com.

Self Reliance and As a Man Thinketh...Free!

In the last issue of our E-Magazine we introduced you to our Free Audio directory. We're proud to announce that this week we added two of our own titles to the directory. We think you'll really enjoy them.

The two new titles that we have up for you to download are As a Man Thinketh by James Allen and Ralph Waldo Emerson's essay Self Reliance. These titles are read by Brian Johnson, the Philosopher and CEO over at Zaadz, Inc. Kudos to Brian for doing an excellent job narrating and to Seth (our resident media producer) for making sure the audio quality is top notch.

Both of these titles have some revolutionary ideas contained within. We're happy to bring them to you totally free of charge. Download and listen to them at your computer, on your iPod, in your car...whereever! Consider it our gift of audio inspiration to you.

All you have to do is post a message on our forums or link to us from your blog or website (if you post in our forums and you link to us you'll be entered twice!).

We'll be announcing the winner of the Nano on our site on November 25th (the day after Thanksgiving). For more details and complete rules, check out the following URL:

Two New Exclusive Podcasts

If you're one of the growing number of podcast addicts out there we have a couple of new ones that you'll want to subscribe to. These are the first podcasts that we have produced here at LearnOutLoud (other that our own Audio Learning Revolution podcast of course). We're both honored and thrilled to be working with these two individuals.

The first of our podcasts is from self-development author Dan Millman. Dan's books, including Way of the Peaceful Warrior, The Journeys of Socrates, and The Life You Were Born to Live have inspired millions of readers in 29 languages. Next year you'll see Dan's work on the big screen as "Peaceful Warrior", a movie based on Way of the Peaceful Warrior, will hit theatres nationwide.

Dan's podcast contains excerpts of his audio teachings. We think you'll really enjoy it. Here's the link to our Dan Millman Podcast page where you can subscribe or listen to individual episodes:

Our second new podcast is from Brian Johnson (yup, he has been busy lately!). It's called the Zaadz Daily Wisdom Podcast and features powerful wisdom from philosophers, spiritual teachers and optimal living gurus. It's the perfect podcast to subscribe to and to listen to start your day. Here's the link to listen to or subscribe to the Daily Wisdom Podcast.

We hope you have as much fun listening to these new podcasts as much as we have had helping to put them together. Thanks to Dan and Brian for their amazing contribution here.

Help Us Change This!

We have a proposal to write an "Audio Learning Manifesto" up on ChangeThis.com. If we get enough votes we'll be published there and can tell even more people about the benefits of audio learning.
