Title Details

Enjoy a mostly humorous discussion between comedian Groucho Marx and William F. Buckley, Jr. in 1967. Buckley frequently quotes Marx in this exchange, to which Marx often replies that he doesn't remember saying that and that he doesn't like sticking to what he said in the past. In answer to the question of whether the world is funny, Marx doesn't think so, finding things to be mostly serious with serious problems in the world. Things stay mostly apolitical until an exchange over the appropriateness of certain kinds of jokes, like jokes about African Americans, Jews, Catholics, etc. Marx firmly believes some jokes are off limits considering the suffering of certain groups, while Buckley feels it is important for the context of the joke to be taken into consideration. It becomes a brief debate over political correctness and humor that has continued over the decades. But for the most part, Marx tells one joke after another in this fun interview.
