With its primary objective consisting of everything and nothing expected of its well established lineage, the band fastidiously worked on material for its first studio release, Mute Memorials (2010).After receiving positive reviews, international airplay, releasing several videos and doing some light touring under the Worst Case Scenario label, the group re-entered the studio to record EP2011 (2011). The release further widened the sonic parameters established by the previous offering.In the summer of 2011, Dark Backward reverted back into writing mode while supporting its second release. The result was the 2013 release of the full-length Phrase & Fable (Waggletone/Worst Case Scenario) which found the band pushing its musical parameters even further apart while staying in touch with the members??? respective backgrounds.The band wrote and recorded the five-song EP Tension/Release (Worst Case Scenario) over the latter part of 2014 on in to 2015, where it was released as a Pay What You Want Bandcamp exclusive to local acclaim. The band added Fred Vahlidiek on keys and noises for live performances during this time as well.In 2016, health issues forced Nye to take an emeritus position with the group. From there he moved to Northland Village and at age Ten moved to the Eastside of Dayton. He grew up without a father, so he turned to the streets. His Mother tried to shelter him from the street lifestyle but he found his way into it early on. At age thirteen he made his first drug deal with cocaine.He dove into the streets, everything from hittin' licks to distribution everything that comes with that lifestyle. He found out he was having his first child at 19 and tried to get out the streets for a minute and work a 9-5, the first time he ever held a job. With the stress of bills, a child, and not getting along with the mother of his child he starting taking Xanax. Ten a day for a week, led him to committing a robbery and ending up with his first felonies as an adult. Two F1 Aggravated Robberies with two Gun Specifications, he served seven months in Montgomery County Jail and pled out to one F1 and did four years in Prison.Stints in Lebanon Correctional Institution and Mansfield Corrections. He got released from prison and hit the streets again hustling. It took two parole sanctions to finally wake him up and realize he could go back to prison and leave his child. This day Jay Dot Wright has started a movement called #StopTheEpidemic against drug use to try and save lives and make up for his past. After discovering the joys of the many NPR story telling formats in programs such as This American Life, StoryCorp and The Moth. Gladgirl contacted The Moth and asked if they would make Dayton a stop on their tours in the area. They weren't interested in little old Dayton, so, in true Gem City style, she pushed on and created her own "moth!"Founded in 2005 with her creation of "A Day In The Life Of ... ", story slamms were born in an Oregon District coffee house called "Jasper Wall Creative Sounds Cafe' " After the closing of Jasper, it would be nearly 5 years before landing in the perfect venue, Ghostlight Coffee, newly opened in 2011. The first Story Slamm at Ghostlight was Dec. of 2011 and has remained a favorite activity for many Dayton story tellers and listeners alike!True Stories! Real Dayton!Inspired by "The Moth", an inclusive performance event that builds community. Watch for announcements of dates & locations.'What is a story slamm?', you may ask.In the tradition of the national story telling program called 'The Moth', story slamms are events where people gather to tell a story based on the theme of the event.There are few simple rules.1) The story has to be factual / true and happened to YOU personally.2) You can use no notes to tell your story. Now a few years later Bill has gained lots of experience having worked on dozens of projects at different capacities and is seeking distribution for his own feature. Bill, or JB, has a local film talk show Film Speak and YouTube channel under his production house name Burnmill. I attended a night of music on Friday Feb 19. First I went to Yellow Cab Tavern for SKRT, the Zygotes, and Manray. Wrights in Fairborn, Ohio for the Violent Kind, Swimming With Sharks, Good English, and NightbeastIzzy Rock and Mark DaGrossa recorded this two part episode at the Montessori School of Dayton for the 2016 Dayton Brew HaHa."The Dayton Brew Ha-Ha is an annual fundraiser for the Montessori School of Dayton. The event started in 2011 and raises funds for the school?s capital improvement fund. Although each year has seen exponential growth, we are committed to maintaining the event as a premier boutique beer tasting, where residents of our community can come to mingle, try regional and local beers, and learn more about the school and about craft beer.Our beers have always had a regional focus. Previous iterations have seen offerings from the Great Lake States, as well as a Michigan vs. Ohio showdown (2014) and Dayton???s first All Ohio tasting (2015).
