  • #44 How to Define Your Own Success
    Tue, Jan 24, 2017

    Caroline Greene is a recovering lawyer, chronic overachiever and passionate truth-teller who loves helping women build whole lives that truly matter to them.

    Before she became a life and business coach, she was a stay-at-home mom of my two beautiful girls. And before that, she was a big-law litigator and former prosecutor. Needless to say, as a graduate of Yale University and the University of Virginia School of Law, she meant it when she said," I know what it feels like to get stuck into someone else’s definition of success."

    Most of her life was spent doing the next “right” thing. But then she hit a point when “right” wasn’t enough anymore. Caroline wanted more. Not more money or more fame or more prestige. But that intangible more. More joy. More laughter. More connection. More meaning. And She's been working on building a life that truly matters to her ever since. Today's show we will learn how to keep going, keep learning and keep facing our fears with humility, compassion, and curiosity. On this podcast, we are going to redefine success in the way that’s right for us.

    We discussed:
    Having a "Top Card" priority and serving it well
    Disconnecting from external sources of success and reaching from within
    Sell first then build
    Outsourcing at home

    If you haven’t already, check out this podcast episode where we give you action advice on how to learn to have a healthy mindset around success!

    Tue, Jan 10, 2017

    What Does S.M.A.R.T.E.R. really mean?

    SMARTER is an acronym that you can use to guide your goal setting.To make sure your goals are clear and reachable, each one should be:

    * Specific
    * Meaningful
    * Achievable
    * Relevant
    * Time bound
    * Evaluated
    * Reviewed

    Perhaps you've always dreamed of traveling around the world, but it's never happened. Maybe you tell yourself it's because you don't have the time or the money, and you'll think about it next year.

    Try setting SMARTER goals to help make your travel plans specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time bound. You might find that the real reason you haven't traveled is because your plans have been too vague or unrealistic. Think about how you can adjust your vision and rephrase it as a SMARTER goal, so that you can make your dream come true. Listen to today's show on how you can create clear, attainable and meaningful goals, and develop the motivation, action plan, and support needed to achieve them.

    Secrets of the Millionaire Mind: Mastering the Inner Game of Wealth Hardcover – February 15, 2005
    Secrets of the Millionaire Mind reveals the missing link between wanting success and achieving it!

    Have you ever wondered why some people seem to get rich easily, while others are destined for a life of financial struggle? Is the difference found in their education, intelligence, skills, timing, work habits, contacts, luck, or their choice of jobs, businesses, or investments?

    The shocking answer is: None of the above!

    In his groundbreaking Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, T. Harv Eker states: "Give me five minutes, and I can predict your financial future for the rest of your life!" Eker does this by identifying your "money and success blueprint." We all have a personal money blueprint ingrained in our subconscious minds, and it is this blueprint, more than anything, that will determine our financial lives. You can know everything about marketing, sales, negotiations, stocks, real estate, and the world of finance, but if your money blueprint is not set for a high level of success, you will never have a lot of money—and if somehow you do, you will most likely lose it! The good news is that now you can actually reset your money blueprint to create natural and automatic success.

    #9 Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less Hardcover – April 15, 2014
    Have you ever felt the urge to declutter your work life?

    Do you often find yourself stretched too thin? Do you simultaneously feel overworked and underutilized? Are you frequently busy but not productive? Do you feel like your time is constantly being hijacked by other people’s agendas?

    If you answered yes to any of these, the way out is the Way of the Essentialist.

    The Way of the Essentialist isn’t about getting more done in less time. It’s about getting only the right things done. It is not a time management strategy, or a productivity technique. It is a systematic discipline for discerning what is absolutely essential, then eliminating everything that is not, so we can make the highest possible contribution towards the things that really matter.

    #10 Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead Hardcover – Deckle Edge, March 11, 2013-

    Thirty years after women became 50 percent of the college graduates in the United States, men still hold the vast majority of leadership positions in government and industry. This means that women’s voices are still not heard equally in the decisions that most affect our lives. In Lean In, Sheryl Sandberg examines why women’s progress in achieving leadership roles has stalled, explains the root causes, and offers compelling, commonsense solutions that can empower women to achieve their full potential.

    Sandberg is the chief operating officer of Facebook and is ranked on Fortune’s list of the 50 Most Powerful Women in Business and as one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People in the World. In 2010, she gave an electrifying TEDTalk in which she described how women unintentionally hold themselves back in their careers. Her talk, which became a phenomenon and has been viewed more than two million times, encouraged women to “sit at the table,” seek challenges, take risks, and pursue their goals with gusto.

  • #36 Mom Inventors Make it Big
    Tue, Nov 29, 2016

    As moms of young kids, we're always looking for better solutions to common problems. A few summers back, 2 moms were swimming with their daughters and realized what a pain it was to remove a wet one-piece bathing suit during those diaper changes or "I've gotta go!" moments. It was even harder to get the wet bathing suit back on. They knew there must be an easier way, but after months of researching, they couldn't find one. So we decided to create their own "better way."

    They set out to evolve the one-piece bathing suit into a suit that could open and close with ease. They worked tirelessly cutting up old bathing suits, sewing them back together, creating their own patterns, and ultimately perfecting our product.

    In late 2014, FASTEN™ was created. As parents, we never settle for anything less than the best for our children. And when they couldn't find the best, they created it. They are passionate about their swimwear, and hope you will be too.

    Here's what we talked about:

    1. Never giving up on your idea
    2. Never taking no for an answer
    3. Working with other mothers makes life easier
    4. When it's time to get a lawyer

    ?

    If you implement even just a few of the time saving tips listed above, you will start to notice a difference in your workday and your productivity – and you may even notice that you have a little more free time. A little more time for Video marketing that is that can all be created in a small amount of time with these tips...

    Tip #1 The Shorter the Better

    The less you say, the more likely people are to remember. Video is an overview or a hook to get people to take the next step. Did you know that after After 7 seconds people been to fade. If you are doing a promo or commercial. Never over 60 seconds. I like 30 even better. The shorter the video is, the less time it takes to complete every other aspect of the whole entire process is. Writing, filming, editing, less graphics etc.

    Tip #2 Focus on 4 simple things:

    - The problem
    - The solution
    - How it works
    - A call to action

    Tip #3 Do a shot list to organize your shots/thoughts before you roll the camera.

    Tip #4 Your video doesn't have to be a big production. Remember you are not competing with HBO. It's engaging and personal and from the heart. Authenticity at it's best. Just be you, in your clothes, in a comfortable setting. And just get your point across.

    Tip #5 Use equipment that you are comfortable with.
    An iPhone is fine! Use a soft light in your home. Make sure your sound is clear and go!

    Tip #6 Batch the process. If you have 3 videos to create, do it all at the same time. Or parts of the process at the same time. For example, write all the scripts in one sitting. Shoot all the videos in one morning. Keep it together and your work flow will be efficient.

    Tip #7 Recap on the 50 tips! Find solutions in your business to free up time....or take something out of your schedule that isn't as effective for scaling your business and insert video marketing.

  • #24 The Importance of Home Movies
    Tue, Aug 23, 2016

    #24 Put Yourself in front of the camera for your children's sake.

    Listen. Learn. Love thyself. Never fear your future again.

    This show is dedicated, and was created for all the women out there who hide from the video camera when it comes to personal home videos. This show was originally going to be "5 Tips to Boost Your On-camera Confidence" for small business owners. I was going to share these tips with my female entrepreneurs to help them get in front of the camera. We as business owners need to promote our brand in the oh so important video marketing game. You know it's vital. But, as I began writing, my thoughts began to shift to video for personal use. I thought about my grandmothers, and how I wish I could witness them on video just one time....I wish I could hear their voices and see their mannerisms. I would cherish that so much. If I only had them on video... I also thought about others in my family who refuse to be in pictures. Then I thought to myself, they are...robbing others of their memory... So this episode I am going to plead with those of you out there who are always behind the camera & for the women that just won't get in front of the camera. I beg you to be in front of camera for the benefit of your loved ones. It's no longer about you. Put yourself on video for your children. Let's listen to this one for our kid's sake...

    Why are personal videos so important: They are Unwitting tools capable of linking past and future. They are a record of your families life. They boost self esteem. They keep the memories alive in your children mind of all the good times. They also can get YOU through the bad times. They are so much fun to make
    They are another creative outlet for your children. So please get over yourself, and in front of the camera! It's a little bit of tough love, but I think you will thank me for it for the rest of your life.

  • #22 The Intern Experiment
    Tue, Aug 09, 2016

    If you could go back in time to the 18 year old you, knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your young self? Listen. Learn. Love thyself. Never fear your future again.
    I have three Interns Carly, Kelsey, Jessica who are doing a wonderful job for me.
    When I first started out, I interned everywhere. The internships that served me the best were the ones that I received hands on experience. So, my interns have their hand in everything my company puts out from my YouTube page, to social media, to my blogs, newsletters etc. I always try to give them assignments that can help better themselves in business, or creation and or I try to inspire them in some way to be their best self.

    Thus, this intern experiment...I had my young women take this podcast to the streets of downtown Red Bank NJ and have them ask women passerbys one question that I hope would be inspiring and helpful to them. That question was: If you could go back in time to when you where 18 what is the best piece of advice that you would give yourself knowing what you know today." Again, this was going to be just an exercise for them, but they provided value to you my listener, worked really hard and did such a good job that I wanted to air it. I also was so pleased with the interviews who so gracious to answer these questions thoughtfully... It was just such a good experience of all these women working together and trying to help each other out. Sisterhood at it's finest hour. I think today we will all benefit from this little experiment in life.

    So please enjoy listening to the work of Carly, Jessica and Kelsey, kicking butt and taking names down on the streets of Red Bank, NJ....

    What advice would you give yourself?? They talked about:

    Experiencing freedom first.
    Not letting anyone stop you from living your dream.
    Respecting your parents.? If you haven’t already, check out this podcast episode where we take the show to the streets of Red Bank, NJ and ask experienced women advice on how to live life to the fullest!
