In this talk at Google, meditation teacher Shinzen Young teaches about what happens when you practice mindful meditation. He then lays out the benefits of meditation, from reducing physical and emotional suffering to enhancing focus and pleasure. In the second half of the talk, he attempts to use scientific metaphors to describe the ways in which meditation parallels science to combine Eastern internal science and Western technological science. While he admits that no meditation practice is easy and it takes a lot of time and effort, Shinzen speaks from experience as a 40-year meditator that the practice pays off.
